Easy Like Sunday Morning
Brody is just getting to be such a fun baby these days. No longer just a lump that cries, eats, poops, and sleeps... now he also plays, smiles, "talks", exercises those strong limbs and wants to look at everything and everyone in the room! A couple weeks ago he started rolling over (back to front) which was very surprising and unexpected. He was so proud of himself! The happiness lasted up until he realized he couldn't roll back over and got tired of having his face smushed into the bed comforter. He's also all about the death grip these days... he has a hard time intentionally grabbing for things, but once he gets a hold on something (my hair usually) he doesn't want to let go!
Even though he's been sleeping through the night for a while now, he still struggles with naps. We started a new naptime routine this weekend and so far it's been amazing. It's a combination of advice from friends and family, techniques from sleep books, and just knowing what my baby likes. He took to it right away. Because swaddling and paci's don't work with Brody, I substituted a sleep sack and a binkie (security blanket). No more rocking him to sleep before putting him down, and no more sleeping on our bed for naps. He's finally taking every nap in his own crib and putting himself to sleep (just like he does at night). And no more 20 min cat naps... he's now taking five 45min-1.5 hr naps a day.
So I'm writing this on Sunday morning while he's taking his first nap of the day. I'm loving the "free" time! And we're all in great moods, especially Brody. Check out how happy he was playing with Daddy this morning!
