2 Month Pediatrician Appointment
Weighing in at 12 lbs 5 oz and 24 in long, Brody has grown so much in just 2 months! But the dr. says he's right on track and looking good (I could have told him that!) We went in today for his 2 month appointment, and it started out great, and ended very pitifully.
Brody was in such a good mood this morning, and we started the day off so well. Despite waiting forever in a crowded waiting room, Brody was just happy as can be staring around the room. In the exam room he was even happier- cooing and smiling away.
That's when the guilt set in.
The whole time he was looking at me like, "I love you, Mommy! You take care of me and protect me and only want good things for me." Ok, in reality he was probably thinking, "I just pooped- how wonderful!" but just go with it.
There he was, lying there on the table, smiling and squirming his naked, chubby little body. Staring at me and the nurse, probably wondering what fun things we had in store for him. Baby talk? Tickling? Peek-a-boo? No.... three obviously very painful shots in the thighs.
That boy cried a cry I've never heard before and there were tears in both our eyes :( I have never felt like such an awful person! It seriously broke my heart to hear him and see his little red, scrunched up face, and took what seemed like forever to calm him down.
He has been sleeping a lot since the appt this morning, but otherwise seems to be less traumatized than me. I can't believe we do this again in 2 months.... ah! But thank goodness for our healthy baby. We are blessed!
